Vonetta Kalieta, Ph.D.

Dr. Vonetta Kalieta previously worked at the university level in the Psychological Counseling Graduate Department. In high school she was on the Tottenville High School (Staten Island, NY) championship Track and Field teams, and competed on the national level for sprint relays and indoor hurdles. She continued her Track and Field career at Monmouth University and earned a Division I scholarship. After graduation Dr. Kalieta continued at Monmouth University and completed a master’s degree in counseling psychology and became a Board Certified Licensed Professional Counselor. For several years after graduation, she worked with the K-12 population as a Student Assistance Counselor. Dr. Kalieta developed and became the program director of the Student Athlete Success Program (SASP) at the Township of Ocean High School. During her tenure as the Director of SASP, Dr. Kalieta provided mental skills training and individual consultation to athletes in several sports. Dr. Kalieta presented her work on the SASP at the American Psychology Association’s Annual Conference and conducted research on college student- athletes. She earned her Doctorate in Philosophy for Counseling Psychology at Walden University. Dr. Kalieta is currently a Sports Counselor/ Mental Skills consultant for college men’s and women’s sports teams. She has previously worked for East2West Sports, providing consultation to athletes and their families to help athletes cope with the stress of minor league involvement improve their sports performances and manage the transition into professional baseball prior to and after Major League Baseball Draft. She is currently collaborating on a book on fostering counselor management skills and continues to provide individual and group counseling to athletes.

Dr. Kalieta views clients as individuals who currently need support with their life struggles and believes the best counseling provides clients with tools to eliminate the need for counseling. Dr. Kalieta has worked with adolescences, adults, families in crisis, families in transition, females in the work place and couples. Dr. Kalieta uses a Solution- Focused approach to help her clients achieve optimal functioning by addressing client challenges of anxiety, adjustment, family conflict, infertility, self-esteem, guilt and shame.
